There he employed his Rule 711 license to assist Winnebago County victims of domestic abuse in civil court, primarily in obtaining orders of protection. In 2010, Westfall clerked for Albert R. Pino, a McHenry personal injury practitioner.

During law school, Westfall was an associate justice of the Moot Court Society and a member of the Delta Theta Phi law fraternity. He also spent a summer studying European Union civil law in France.

Westfall holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Notre Dame. During his collegiate summers, Westfall umpired softball and baseball games for various in-house and travel leagues in McHenry County and Lake County.

A lifelong resident of the village of Johnsburg, Westfall attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling abroad, and outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, skiing and snowboarding.
