    John J. Murray Jr.

    John J. Murray Jr. has experience litigating and resolving a broad range of complex legal issues.  As a Captain in the United States JAG Corps, Murray was trusted with a number of important leadership roles including Officer-in-Charge of Legal Assistance, Officer-in-Charge of Fort Leonard Wood’s tax center and the Officer-in Charge of the Litigation Division.

    Murray also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney and Military Magistrate Judge.  These roles provided great experience that Murray was able to use as a Law Instructor at the United States Military Police School and Adjunct Professor for Columbia College.

    In 2009, Murray entered private practice in McHenry County, Illinois, and quickly earned the respect of his clients, fellow attorneys and judges with his dedication, writing style and ability to solve complex legal problems.

    Murray attended Addison Trail High School in Addison, Illinois, before graduating from Drake University and Drake University Law School.

    Murray received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in 2009. He has received a Meritorious Service Medal, an Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and an Army Service Ribbon. He also was formally recognized by the Judge Advocate General for heroism.


    Murray is the founder, writer and editor of His first book has been accepted for publication and is expected to be released in 2018.


    Before joining Zukowski, Rogers, Flood & McArdle in 2018, Murray was an attorney at Donald C. Stinespring & Associates in Richmond, Illinois. Prior to 2009, he served as a captain in the Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, where his assignments included instructor at the Military Police School, special assistant United States attorney and OIC of the Tax Center and Legal Assistance office.
